This article was updated on May 7, 2021

We are seeing a secular change in the way businesses operate, driving a communications revolution across all industries and modes of communications. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has only served to accelerate this universal need for employees to be connected to each other and to their customers across all channels.

Illustration of people celebrating.

The convergence of the internet, mobility, and the cloud is driving this next wave of digital transformation and intelligent communications. And it’s going to transform every business, every industry and every customer interaction on the planet.

Businesses all over the world must adapt to meet these customer expectations and provide the experience customers demand.

Vonage is well positioned to meet these changes head on, to continue to accelerate the world’s ability to connect through the Vonage Communications Platform (VCP). Delivering a single leading cloud communications platform powers Vonage customers’ and partners’ global engagement solutions using APIs, Unified Communications and Contact Center innovations.

Vonage is in the right place at the right time in a large and growing market. And the industry is taking notice.

IDC MarketScape

Vonage has been positioned in the Major Players category for two recently published IDC MarketScape reports:

Focused on Vonage’s unified communications solution, Vonage Business Communications (VBC), both reports note the importance of the VCP and ability to deliver a wide range of communications services  and solutions including APIs, unified communications, and contact center applications, as well as the Company’s ownership of its entire tech stack and ability to control its roadmap.

Other strengths include VBC’s ability to seamlessly integrate with collaboration tools and applications, as well as investments in high growth areas such as APIs, AI, mobility and omnichannel capabilities). The SMB IDC MarketScape, in particular, mentions Vonage’s partnership with Zapier that makes it easy for nontechnical employees to incorporate unified communications services into drag-and-drop built apps, appealing to SMBs that may have limited or no onsite IT or technical expertise.

Inclusion in both reports emphasizes VBC’s ability to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed the way companies of all sizes do business. These events have challenged these same organizations to look for scalable and flexible unified communications solutions to enable remote work and remote delivery of services in an increasingly virtual world, while making doing business easier and more cost effective,” said Denise Lund, Research Director, Telecom and Unified Communications for IDC.

“The Vonage Business Communications solution was included in both IDC MarketScape reports. It’s recognized for its ability to meet this growing need, integrating voice, video, messaging, and meeting services across a flexible cloud-based solution, and enabling businesses, large and small, to provide their employees with the tools they need now - and in the future - to communicate easily, share information, and meet with colleagues, customers, and partners, from anywhere in the world.”

Key features of VBC included in the reports are recent enhancements to the platform:

  • Vonage Meetings - video conferencing and collaboration solutions that offers an omni-channel experience (voice, SMS, team messaging, social, fax, and video — all from a single interface)

  • Vonage App Center- self-service tool to easily add high-value CRM and business applications within the VBC platform for both desktop and mobile

  • Global expansion- international capabilities into countries across EMEA, APAC, and LATAM

  • Vonage Smart Numbers - ability to integrate programmable capabilities into any VBC number

  • Ease of use - a single pane of glass view in the VBC desktop and mobile app, bringing together data from the entire solution portfolio

The Enterprise IDC MarketScape report also notes areas of opportunity for the Company, noting Vonage’s increased investment in the Channel strategy and continued focus on this important element of Vonage’s strategy to drive future growth.
