Video API pricing FAQs
This pricing model bills according to the number of participants in the session and the number of minutes a participant spends in the session.
A participant is a connection through the API, which typically corresponds to a single person or device. A person can connect multiple times from the same or different devices, in which case that person will show up as multiple participants. With this pricing model, the number of participants in a video session is dynamically calculated each minute.
Participant: A fully interactive member of the video session who may or may not be publishing video and audio feeds.
Connected participant: A participant with access to one of the Vonage Video API real-time automatic speech recognition (ASR) capabilities, such as Live Captions or Audio Connector, which connects the participant’s audio to a third-party ASR engine or WebSocket server.
Publisher: A type of participant who publishes video streams, audio streams, or both to other participants.
Viewer: A passive attendee of live streaming video. Viewers can still interact in real-time using signaling to chat, respond to polls, and ask questions.
Participant minute: A minute of real-time video publishing by a participant, or a connected participant, to a WebRTC session, following the participant-based video pricing model.
Session minute: A minute of a composed session used for HLS Broadcast or Experience Composer webview capture.
Archive minute: A minute of an individual or a composed session Archive.
SIP subscribed minute: A minute that a user subscribes to a SIP endpoint.
