PinU is centered on the ability to instantly message friends who are nearby, while enabling its users with privacy controls. It was critical for PinU to verify its users with their phone numbers upon registration to confirm their identity, and allow them to connect with friends on the app. With its user base quickly growing, it was necessary to have a user verification solution that could scale beyond its initial launch.
To authenticate its users, PinU integrated the Vonage Verify API in its mobile application. Upon registration, a user entered a verification code received over SMS or voice from Vonage into the PinU application. Once the user successfully verified their phone number, they gained full, secure access of the app and the ability to invite their friends to join the service.
